Summary/Abstract: The article examines a silver coin hoard, which originates from the lands of the village of Nisovo, located 25 km to the south of Ruse, Northeastern Bulgaria. The hoard ontains 93 coins, emissions from the Bulgarian Tsar Ivan Shishman (1371 – 1395), the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I (1389 – 1402), his son Suleiman Celebi (1403 – 1411) and the Wallachian voivode Mircea the Elder (1386 – 1418). Despite the lack of specific information regarding the archaeological context of discovery, the silver coin hoard presents data for the elements of monetary circulation during the initial decades after the Ottoman conquest of the area in 1388. Along with the continuing availability of Bulgarian silver emissions, the collective find also reveals the presence of Wallachian coins in the area, in a time of political turmoil and desire for overthrowing Ottoman authority.
