KUČA DICTIONARY: ADDITIONS

Summary/Abstract: These additions to the Речник Куча represent the first author’s renewed attempt to revisit his earliest linguistic experience and check whether anything from the speech of Kuči had been overlooked, despite decades away from the region. The supplement includes over 2,000 new entries, but coverage remains incomplete and complicated by internal dialect variation, earlier authors’ literary interference, and the loss of important manuscripts by Стеван Дучић, which makes establishing the authentic lexical inventory more difficult. Ultimately, both the dictionary and its additions are seen as a preliminary foundation for future research, especially urgent given the disappearance of villages and native speakers who once preserved these lexical and semantic systems.
