Summary/Abstract: The author explains that this collection of words emerged reluctantly, as he had never originally intended to compile a dictionary of his native Bučum dialect, even though he had worked with its vocabulary for more than sixty years. Over time, encouraged by colleagues and inspired by ethnocultural research, he gradually gathered lexical material, but hesitated because many comprehensive dialect dictionaries from southeastern Serbia had already been published, often covering speech very similar to his own. In the end, despite doubts and delays, he decided to present his modest compilation as a way to preserve the disappearing speech of his homeland and to complement his earlier scholarly work.
