Summary/Abstract: The Russian archives preserve several hundred marching itineraries (maps of strategic roads) drawn up by Russian topographers during the military occupations of Moldavia and Wallachia. Among these, the one from Baia to Roșcani, drawn up by Ivanov in 1829, stands out. As we show in our text, it is an important source for the topography of Moldova’s northern border after 1775, as well as for the history of the village (former town) of Baia and the market town of Fălticeni. We analysed this source making use of other information, both cartographic and historical.
