PASTORAL / RURAL SMART TOURISM

Summary/Abstract: This paper is an attempt at establishing the features of a new type of tourism – pastoral/rural smart tourism. The authors present concepts such as smart, smart tourism, and smart tourism destination. They also show how to shift from smart city tourism to pastoral/rural smart tourism by using, just like in smart city tourism, innovation and technology to enhance tourist experience and promote sustainability – augmented reality, chatbots, digitisation, Internet of Things, and mobile applications. Great attention is also paid to pastoral/rural smart tourism variables. The materials used in this paper are from the last decade, which points to the increasing interest of researchers in smart tourism.
