Summary/Abstract: This contribution aims to explore the exegetical debate concerning the figure of Christ as the “new Adam,” with reference to several verses in the fifth chapter of the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans. The primary objective is to analyse how contemporary theologians interpret and develop this well-known Pauline passage, with attention both to its exegetical dimensions and to its dogmatic implications. The study is structured in two main sections, in addition to an introduction and a conclusion. The first part presents a concise overview of the principal exegetical reflections on Romans chapter 5, with particular emphasis on verse 12, which has traditionally been at the centre of theological debate regarding original sin and redemption. Subsequently, a preliminary examination will be offered of how dogmatic theology has received and reinterpreted these verses from a systematic perspective. Although the entire chapter provides numerous ways for reflection, our focus will be directed specifically to verse 12, which will first be analysed within its exegetical context and then discussed from a theological-dogmatic standpoint.
