Summary/Abstract: Decision-making is a crucial component of any human endeavour, determining its success or failure. In the Final Document of the Synod on Synodality, “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission”, this process is emphasized as vital to the life of the Church. Recognizing its significance, the Synod proposes reforms aimed at encouraging broader involvement, particularly from lay members. To ensure that decisions align with the nature of a synodal Church, three theological criteria are emphasized: Communion, Participation, and Mission. These serve not merely as guiding principles but as essential dimensions that every final decision must reflect. Importantly, these reforms are not intended to undermine or replace the Church’s hierarchical structure, but to balance the shared dignity of all the baptized with the value of ecclesial authority. In this context, the decision-making process becomes an instrument of unity, fostering communion among the People of God and supporting the Church’s collective journey and mission.
