Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyze the economic effects of the “Open Balkans” initiative on the trade exchange between Serbia and Albania. The paper investigates how the reduction of trade barriers, facilitation of customs procedures and increased cooperation affect the volume and structure of bilateral trade. Secondary data from official statistics and relevant economic sources were used. The results show that the “Open Balkans” initiative contributes to the increase of trade turnover between the two countries, especially in the sectors of agriculture, industry and services. It is concluded that such regional initiatives have significant potential for the improvement of economic relations and the growth of the economies of the participating countries.
