Summary/Abstract: Contemporary orthodontic practice is being shaped by the integration of innovative technologies, advanced software, and robotic interventions, as well as by the increasing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in diagnostics and treatment planning. In accordance with the universal principle of balance, not every innovation yields solely positive outcomes. Therefore, maintaining equilibrium between enhanced treatment results and overcoming the associated challenges and drawbacks is essential for the sustainable development of the orthodontic service sector. This article analyzes the transformations in the business environment resulting from the digitalization of all processes and structures within a dental practice. It evaluates the achieved improvements in service quality, the efficiency of clinical procedures, and the reduction in human labor involvement. Special attention is given to the application of AI in the processing of diagnostic data and treatment planning, as well as to patients’ perceptions and acceptance of such technologies. The study identifies problems arising from the use of AI and digital tools that rely on statistical averages of human morphological structures. Technological diagnostics and treatment planning often fail to account for the unique physical and psycho-emotional characteristics of individual patients, leading to a lack of empathy and verbal communication in the care process. Therefore, the hybrid model (clinician-AI) in orthodontic services is proposed as the optimal approach, offering a balance between scientifically validated diagnostics and physician-led treatment, supported by advanced technological systems and software-controlled procedures.
