BUDMANI’S OBSERVATIONS ON THE DALMATIAN ROMANCE LEMMATA OF THE RJEČNIK JUGOSLAVENSKE AKADEMIJE

Summary/Abstract: This paper examines entries of Dalmatian Romance origin in the section of the Rječnik Jugoslavenske akademije that was edited by P. Budmani. The accompanying observations reveal that Budmani used a set of criteria to identify Dalmatian Romance loanwords within the Serbo-Croatian lexicon and to differentiate them from other Romance loanwords, particularly those of Italian origin. Only some of these criteria are known from Budmaniʼs earlier writings.
