Summary/Abstract: Joseph Sebastian Pelczar, as professor and rector of the Jagiellonian University and bishop of the diocese of Przemyśl, had a significant influence on the development of education and upbringing in Poland. This article presents his views on upbringing, showing him as an advocate of a religious-moral model of education in which moral and spiritual values played a key role. In his writings and public speeches, Pelczar promoted the idea of educating young people in the Catholic spirit, developing both their intellect and morality. The present text is an attempt at a synthetic presentation of his views and thoughts on education, based on his writing legacy and little-known texts deposited in the General Archive of the Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the Joseph Sebastian Pelczar Archive group, which contains a set of publications by this author.
