Summary/Abstract: This paper consists of two parts. The first presents an overview of the life of Academician Vojislav Marić — his parents, education, and academic career, including his involvement with the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and with Matica Srpska. The second part focuses on his scientific work, offering a brief analysis of his most important achievements, particularly those arising from his collaboration with Academician Miodrag Tomić. Their joint research centered on the qualitative analysis of solutions to linear and nonlinear differential equations using the class of Karamata regular and slowly varying functions. This part is further divided into two sections, outlining Marić’s contributions and results in the theory of nonlinear and linear differential equations. Other notable accomplishments associated with his name are also mentioned: the proof of the classical Bernstein inequality for Legendre polynomials (with Miodrag Tomić); the construction of a solution to an elliptic equation using a new Bergman-type integral operator (with Bwee Lan Tjong); and his results on the properties of solutions to algebraic equations with coefficients from the Hardy field.
