Summary/Abstract: Adalbert Šenborn completed primary school and Real Gymnasium in Vršac. He studied Agronomy at the Württemberg Agricultural College in Hohenheim (Germany), and earned his PhD from the University of Kiel. He began his professional career at the Agricultural Experimental Control Station in Topčider (Belgrade), where he also served as acting director and manager of the station’s property in Pančevački rit. He later worked as Secretary of the Local Agricultural Commissions of the People’s Committee of Borča-Rit, acting director of the County Agricultural Stations, and concurrently as an agricultural officer at the National Agricultural Goods Administration in Pančevo. Šenborn continued his career at the Institute for Plant Breeding and Production in Zemun Polje, where he also held the role of acting director. At the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, he was appointed Associate Professor in 1955, later serving as Vice-Dean (1958–1959) and Dean (1959–1960). He was a member of the Commission for Establishing the Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad, and an associate at the Institute for Agriculture, where he led the Plant Nutrition Department and served on the Council. As one of the founding members, he was invited to join the newly established Faculty of Technology in 1962, where he was appointed Full Professor for the course Technology of Flour. There, he also served as Vice-Dean and subsequently as Dean. His leadership played a key role in the development and recognition of the Faculty of Technology as a leading scientific institution in the field. Šenborn also served as Director of the Institute for Grain and Flour Technology at the Yugoslav Institute for the Food Industry. He was a part-time lecturer at the Faculties of Technology in Sarajevo and Belgrade. He collaborated with the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops as a researcher in agrochemistry and plant nutrition, and also worked part-time at the Institute of Food Technology in Novi Sad, the Technical College of Applied Sciences in Zrenjanin, and the Higher Agricultural School in Osijek. His early research was dedicated to soil fertility, including the use of mineral fertilizers and studies on nitrate migration in soil profiles. Later, he shifted his focus to farinology—investigating the quality of wheat, flour, and bread—which became his central research interest for the rest of his career. Professor Šenborn accomplished an impressive and awe-inspiring opus; he left behind an indelible mark through notable and acclaimed scientific, pedagogical, professional and generally valuable social contributions.
