Summary/Abstract: The section we entitled ”Solomon and Savila” stands for yet another proof for the translation manner of ”The Chronograph from the Beginning of the World” as compared to the original Greek text. An important aspect to indicate in this case too is the translator’s remarkable talent; he is very keen on details and proves great abilities in character depiction even in short texts such as the above by re-writing specific elements from the original version using various means of interpretation. Therefore, the present analysis reveals that by the above translation approach that we called free interpretative translation, the entire message of the Greek chronograph, and that of the Bible too, is restructured. In the biblical texts, Savila’s words are meant to honour Solomon’s God as well as the power He bestowed on him for his wisdom, while Kigalas’ chronograph focuses more on Solomon’s human qualities, with a stress on his wisdom. As we have noticed, the translation clearly emphasizes these qualities and the narrator translator offers a rich spiritual and moral portrayal of the aforementioned character by means of the encomion contained in Savila’s words, as an example for both the clergy and the laymen at the royal court.
