Summary/Abstract: On November 4, 1944, the Provisional Central Committee of Jews in Poland was established in Lublin. In early February 1945, it took the name of the Central Committee of Jews in Poland (CKŻP) and was transferred to Warsaw at the end of the month. The CKŻP became the most important Jewish institution in Poland in the first years after World War II, coordinating the reconstruction of Jewish life in all its aspects through a network of provincial, district, and city committees. The purpose of this article is to present the welfare and educational activities of the Provincial Jewish Committee in Kraków, which, despite facing difficulties with recovering buildings that belonged to the Jewish community before World War II, the scarcity of financial resources to provide assistance to the many in need, and the manifestations of anti-Semitism in community life, was able to build institutions to organize Jewish life in one of the most important postwar Jewish communities in Poland
