Political and economic aspects of shaping the EU’s supranational economic policy

Summary/Abstract: This article addresses the problem of the impact of institutional mechanisms on eco- nomic policy conducted at the supranational level. The article will analyze management solutions that constitute quasi instruments of fiscal policy, used to supervise the level of debt of Member States, with particular emphasis on those that are experiencing a public debt crisis. New tools to strengthen fiscal discipline control processes and actions aimed at supporting economic growth will also be dis- cussed. The research used institutional analysis and analysis of source documents as part of a system- ic approach. The main goal of the article is to present the problem of conducting supranational policy that takes into account both the economic conditions and political interests of individual member states. For the purposes of the research conducted, for which the theoretical point of reference is the concept of multi-level management, the thesis was adopted that economic management at the Euro- pean Union level requires coordination of activities undertaken at many levels.
