Summary/Abstract: Article shows the changes in the approach of forensic science to the phenomenon of domestic violence, treating them as a problem that requires not only the prosecution of perpetrators, but also an understanding of the social, psychological and cultural mechanisms underlying it. The text emphasizes the need to move away from the traditionally repressive role of law enforcement agencies in favor of a more comprehensive, empathetic and individualized model of work. The new approach involves the analysis of crimes from the perspective of interpersonal relationships, domestic arrangements and emotional dependencies between the victim and the perpetrator. Forensic science is not limited to documenting crimes, but cooperates with psychology, forensic medicine and social services, striving to identify risk factors and warning signals. An important element of the modern approach is also counteracting secondary victimization and ensuring effective protection already at the pre-trial stage. To this end, procedural solutions such as rapid response of services, strengthening the competences of experts, the use of protective measures and interdisciplinary cooperation are promoted. The publication also draws attention to the need to reform the law and investigative practice in such a way that they correspond to the real complexity of the phenomenon of domestic violence and enable more effective pursuit of justice. Forensic science, as a field supporting the justice system, can and should play a key role in this process.
