Summary/Abstract: The article presents an in-depth analysis of the issue of personal safety of police officers in the light of applicable legal regulations and ethical principles. It discusses the status of a police officer as a public official and the special legal protection afforded to him under the provisions of the Criminal Code and the Police Act. The stability and transparency of regulations concerning the use of direct coercive measures are highlighted as a key factor influencing the safety of police officers and citizens. The article takes into account practical aspects, such as procedures, training, and equipment for police officers, which are important for minimizing risk during service. Examples of court rulings in cases concerning the personal safety of police officers were discussed. In the ethical section, the discussion was expanded to include moral dilemmas arising in police work and references to the principles of professional ethics for police officers. The importance of the ethos of service and disciplinary and criminal responsibility was emphasized in the context of actions taken to protect public safety and the personal safety of officers.
