Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is a conceptual analysis of selected legal regulations on the legal protection of police officers, particularly in the context of their personal safety. The author attempts to assess the impact of these regulations on the implementation by the Police of tasks related to the maintenance of order, security and public order. The study uses the method of dogmatic-legal analysis and case studies of judicial decisions. An analysis of the provisions of the Criminal Code, particularly Articles 222 and 223 of the Criminal Code, was carried out with regard to the crimes of violation of an officer’s bodily integrity and active assault on his person. The positions of the doctrine and selected judgments of common courts and the Supreme Court were also taken into account. The analysis showed that the current legislation provides police officers with formal legal protection, which is necessary for their effective performance of their official duties. It also found that there are gaps in interpretation and inconsistencies in case law, particularly with regard to the scope of concepts such as “active assault” and “assailant.” The need for more precise normative clarification of officers’ personal protection was also identified. n the context of dynamically changing socio-legal conditions, it is necessary to further improve the system of legal protection of police officers. It seems reasonable to introduce legislative changes aimed at strengthening their personal safety, while respecting civil rights. The proposed measures can contribute to increasing the effectiveness of the Police and strengthening public confidence in state institutions.
