Summary/Abstract: Geopolitics has historically influenced the organisation of higher education. Yet, professional fields such as real estate education must remain autonomous, guided not by ideology or political orientation but by measurable efficiency and competence. This paper explores the emergence of real estate education in Bulgaria as a case study of how universities can adapt to geopolitical changes without losing their professional mission. Drawing on international comparisons (UCL, TU Munich, MIT, Reading, Aalto), the study demonstrates that the most successful academic models focus on solving practical tasks and achieving high-quality outcomes regardless of the surrounding political climate. In a globalised and competitive world, academic autonomy is guaranteed not by political neutrality, but by excellence and professional integrity.
