Summary/Abstract: This article examines the evolving representations of femininity and sexuality in three novels by Zyta Rudzka – Pałac Cezarów (1997), Dziewczyny Bonda (2004), and Ten się śmieje, kto ma zęby (2022) – with particular focus on the continuity of gendered themes and the symbolic consolidation of these elements in the character of Wera. Drawing on feminist criticism and somatopoetics, the study investigates how Rudzka’s female protagonists assert agency through embodied experience, transgressive language, and subversion of normative gender roles. The recurring motif of scissors is interpreted as a material and symbolic extension of power and self-definition, shaping both character identity and narrative structure. The article also addresses the intertextual web within Rudzka’s fiction and explores the significance of her metanarrative statements in constructing a literary universe rooted in female autonomy, affect, and resistance.
