Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we examined the use of gender-sensitive language, feminative (femininum), nouns agentis et professionis – occupations, titles and titles of women in the media in Montenegro, from a sociolinguistic perspective, on a sample collected on the portals of media outlets from the territory of Montenegro – Dan, Pobjeda and Vijesti. The research was conducted on a corpus of publications published in the period from January 2023 to November 2025 and included news, reports and authorial topics, from which the research material was excerpted. The role of the media is multifaceted, their communicative function is inevitable, and they provide insight into the state of the language. Our goal in this research is to obtain relevant data on the use of gender-sensitive language in the media in Montenegro. We hope that the work will contribute to overcoming specific limitations in the use of gender-sensitive language, and that it will provide an incentive for its use and the introduction of a gender perspective into wider public discourse, so that gender-sensitive language will finally be more transparently applied in official and public use. The starting hypothesis is that gender-sensitive language is not used consistently in Montenegrin media, that feminatives are used less frequently and selectively, most often in contexts of negative connotation, while masculine forms are used as generic. The analysis of the corpus excerpted from Montenegrin media portals has shown that gender-sensitive language is still not a common, consistent, or conscious practice in journalistic and publicistic style.
