Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this material is to bring to the public’s attention a forgotten personality. Unfortunately, Vasile Meşter is today an almost unknown name, but who, through his life and work, we believe deserves a place of honor in the gallery of personalities of the history of the intra‑Carpathian space. Born in Maramureş, Vasile Meşter trained as an intellectual in Braşov, Bucharest, Budapest and Cluj, becoming a renowned lawyer. He began his activity in Banat. Vasile Meşter was active in the Romanian national movement, which fought for political rights with the government in Budapest. His activity also included a journalistic side, as well as an economic one, Vasile Mester being the founder of „Astra” Bank in Sasca Montană. He also stood out as a defender of Romanian confessional schools attacked by hostile legislation in 1907. During the time he lived and worked in Banat, Vasile Mester was an important voice of the Romanian community.
