Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present Lehnin Abbey as a central religious centre in medieval Brandenburg and to analyze its significance for the expansion of the Cistercian Order, particularly in the context of the foundation of Paradyż Abbey in Greater Poland. Examining the relationship between Lehnin and Paradyż will help determine whether, from the moment of the new abbey’s foundation, the ties between the mother abbey and the newly established monastery remained strong and crucial for the success of the new monastic community or whether they weakened over time. The analysis will also address internal monastic conflicts and potential tensions between the abbeys that may have influenced their cooperation and development. The primary research source cited in this article is Statuta Capitulorum Generalium Ordinis Cisterciensis (1116–1786).
