Summary/Abstract: The article examines the interrelation and interaction between politics, the political process, and the principal types of norms - legal, religious, and moral. The balance among these norms, as applied, recognized, and implemented within a society, directly influences the effectiveness of political functioning. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of different types of norms both as instruments for regulating social relations and as carriers of values and identity.
