Summary/Abstract: The proposed research is aimed at updating the study of the history of football in Ukraine as an element of social and political mobilization of the population in the revolutionary challenges of 1917-1921. And the research tasks are to introduce into scientific circulation an array of information found in narrative sources, first of all in a specialized publication, to study the organizational principles of club / society formation, its sports and political tasks, to find out the personnel potential of the football team. The research strategy is based on the involvement of a set of methods most often used in humanities studies - analytical and synthetic, descriptive, retrospective, historical-genetic and quantitative, which are selected within local history. Scientific novelty is determined by the lack of publications not only on the declared issues, but also by ignoring the coverage of the development of football in Ukraine in the specified period of time. The main emphasis is on the functioning of Jewish society, as an example of involving young people in solving socio-political problems within national perspectives. The work concludes with the conclusion that Odesa became the center of the spread of the ideas of «Maccabiism» in the lands of the former Russian Empire, and the members of the organization were under the influence of the ideology of Zionism. The club’s program objectives focused on solving two interrelated components - political and sports. The first of these was closely intertwined with the desire of the Jewish people to create the state of Israel in Palestine. Accordingly, the members of «Maccabi» used the organizational capabilities of the society for political agitation among young people, attracting them under their flags. Under such conditions, sport became an additional factor in the political mobilization of the Jewish population of Odesa. As it proved to be a favorable space for the promotion of political projects, the creation of the Maccabi Society stimulated the process of national identification and consolidation of the city’s Jews.
