Summary/Abstract: The article examines the impact of social and economic insecurity on the lives of Bulgarian labour migrants in Italy. In security manifests itself in the feeling of undervalued work, often performed in the informal economy or in labour market segments associated with low qualifications and temporary employment. The study reveals cultural and linguistic barriers that hinder migrants’ professional integration and increase the risk of their social exclusion. It also discusses the role of negative public and media attitudes, which reinforce the negative stereotyping of immigrants and further complicate their process of full social integration.
