Summary/Abstract: The work aim to analyze the coverage of the Holocaust in the works of Czech and Slovak filmmakers of the «new wave» of the 1960s. The research methodology is based on the principles of objectivity, historicism, systematicity and the use of general scientific research methods. The method of collecting and analyzing information is visual analysis. Interpretation of the content of films and their ideas is used, the method of discourse analysis is used. The scientific novelty is that an attempt has been made to study the coverage of the Holocaust in the films of Czechoslovak directors of the 1960s in artistic, professional and social aspects. The number of public demonstrations and the number of spectators of the studied films in cinemas, TV broadcasts of pictures on Czech and Slovak television, presence and views on the YouTube video resource were analyzed. Conclusions. Czech and Slovak directors of the «new wave» focus on the individual human experience of war. The Jewish theme in the films allowed to sharpen the moral issues posed in them as much as possible. The work of directors in the 1960s certainly influenced and continues to influence the formation of Holocaust memory in Czech and Slovak society, and contributed to the recognition of the Catastrophe as a special tragedy of the Jews at the state level. The films received international professional and public recognition, became the «golden classics» of Czech and Slovak cinema. The American Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1966 and the prize at the Cannes International Film Festival (France) went to «Shop in the Square».
