Summary/Abstract: The author analyzes the conditions and causes of the crisis of liberal democracy. He also showes the main manifestations of the constitutional crisis in Poland after 2015. There is undoubtedly a causal relationship between the phenomenon of the crisis of liberal democracy and the constitutional crisis in Poland, although it should not be overestimated. The actions of the United Right after 2015 were part of the trend to question the principles of liberal democracy, which has also appeared in other countries in the region. Populist attitudes has been related to the consequences of the economic and migration crisis. However, this does not mean that the constitutional crisis in Poland has occurred solely for this reason. It was undoubtedly related to the characteristics of the systemic changes after 1989 and the difficulties that appeared in the process of creating a new constitution. If overcoming the constitutional crisis is to be permanent, the constitutional and systemic measures must be based on a solid foundation of national agreement on the shape of the constitution. Dialogue between all the most important political forces is necessary.
