Summary/Abstract: Andrzej Witos (1878–1973) was a farmer, activist of the people’s movement, younger brother of Wincenty. From 1907 he was active in the Polish People’s Party, during the war he was deported to the USSR, he became a member of the Union of Polish Patriots and the Polish Committee of National Liberation (PKWN). He served as a member of the State National Council and the Legislative Sejm. After the war he was again active in the PSL, marginalized by the communist authorities from 1950. As the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reforms of the PKWN he was responsible for implementing the agrarian reform, however, due to differences in the approach to its assumptions and implementation he was removed after only two months.
