Summary/Abstract: The Flondor family can be included among the personalities who knew the manner to identify themselves with the Romanian ideal. Active sights on the political field, the members of the Flondor family used their honourable development as intellectuals in order to facilitate the evolution of a complex cultural and political life.Iancu Flondor was an aristocratic Romanian figure. He is mostly known for his vivid patriotism, remarkable political instinct, honesty, dignity, moral integrity and consistency of his political views. His noble presence imposed respect and distinguished himself as a leading Romanian politician whose name is most commonly associated with the major event of the year 1918, which is the Union of Bukovina with Romania. The focus of Iancu Flondor’s intense activity was not to pursue his own interest, a reality totally demonstrated in the crucial moments of political turmoil in Bukovina. He even sacrificed part of his fortune to support the cause of the Romanian people from Bukovina, displayed a sense of justice and fought to combat corruption, promoting good governance. His passing became a national grief and that proves that he was admired, respected and loved
