Summary/Abstract: The Old Testament writings utilise complex terminology when addressing the theology of grace in the era preceding the incarnation of Christ. From a linguistic perspective, the Hebrew vocabulary contains two terms for the concept of "grace": "hen" and "hesed". The noun “hen” is found in the Old Testament over 60 times, most commonly used in the construction: "to find favour in someone's eyes". The term “hen” is employed to denote the action of a superior, whether divine or human, towards an inferior. “Hen” is employed to convey the notion of undeserved favour.
