Summary/Abstract: The study The Feast Day – A Historical and Liturgical Event explores the theological, historical and missionary significance of the feast in the Romanian Orthodox tradition. The study analyzes the origins of the term “feast”, originating from the Slavonic „hramu”, and its development as an expression of the sanctification of space and time through the grace of the Holy Spirit. Through an interdisciplinary approach – liturgical, symbolic and pastoral-missionary – we wish to emphasize the role of the feast as a moment of communion, of reaffirmation of ecclesial identity and consolidation of community life. The theological dimensions are examined, the relationship between the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacrifice of the martyrs, spiritual, the sanctification of time and place, and pastoral, the missionary and community impact of feasts and pilgrimages. In the Romanian context, feasts are analyzed as living forms of confession of faith and preservation of spiritual and national unity, while also being expressions of the continuity of Christ’s saving work in the world.
