Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the ways of forming students’ social and communicative competencies in the educational process by means of case study. The conceptual and methodological understanding of the use of case study technology in the educational process of primary school is presented. The case study is one of the approaches of activity-based learning, which is considered as an effective way to develop skills and achieve educational goals, compared to traditional teaching methods. The use of the case method stimulates the educational and cognitive activity of students, forms positive motivation and ensures high learning efficiency, shapes personal qualities and enables the teacher to improve and develop creativity. The authors analyse the concept of "case study" in the context of philosophical, pedagogical and psychological thought as a technology for using specific situations for joint analysis, discussion or development of a certain solution. It is proved that the case method is a specific and practical method of organizing the educational process, a method of discussion, stimulation and motivation of cognitive activity of students, as well as a method of laboratory and practical control and self-control. The content and possibilities of introducing case study technology into the educational process of primary school are characterized. The didactic principles on which the use of case study technology is based are described, the features that distinguish them from other teaching methods are highlighted. The requirements for creating cases are presented, and the sequence of their creation is developed. It is proved that the use of case study technology creates the necessary prerequisites for the development of social and communicative competencies of students, as well as for the formation of the ability to make collective and individual decisions. It is emphasized that the use of the case method opens up a wide scope for creativity, independence, develops thinking, the ability to analyze information, formulate and solve problems, and also forms life competencies. The article characterizes the content of the teacher’s work in the context of using case methods in teaching junior pupils.
