Summary/Abstract: In today’s world, where energy, its sources, and infrastructure play a crucial role in everyone’s life, energy safety determines every strategic decision and shapes entire societies, including in legal terms. The article attempts to address the issue of regionalism in the European Union’s energy policy. From the perspective of analysing legal acts and research, it is possible to conclude that regionalisation is inevitable for providing energy safety, but it is also a double-edged issue. This can lead to the development of energy security adapted to the needs and possibilities of regionally connected member states, but it can also undermine and slow down the energy transformation process in the European Union. The article includes an analysis of these possibilities and attempts to establish the basic framework and terminology for the regionalisation phenomenon, including the concepts of energy region and energy security. Primarily, it focuses on legal analysis, alongside references to other legal aspects and solutions adopted in various countries, both within and outside the European Union, which may enhance efforts aimed at providing energy security, thereby defining perspectives for the future.
