Summary/Abstract: Massive panel apartment block constructions across Europe in the second half of the 20th century have since changed people's relationship with housing and home-related habits in many ways, as well as the organization and processes of their everyday lives. New functions have appeared in everyday home use, while others have been transformed. The panel flats, which offered all modern conveniences, including bathrooms with continuous hot and cold water supply, were very attractive. However, there was a period in the use of prefab apartment blocks in Romania, the 1980s, when the use of bathrooms was reduced due to the austerity measures introduced. The situation has improved since the change of regime, and with it the gradual transformation and renovation of apartments and bathrooms have begun. The study aims to present this process of change, including the transformation of the object culture and functions, from the period of construction up to the present day, using the results of research conducted in a randomly selected stairwell and additional sources, such as real estate ads.
