Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to teaching the subject «Country Studies of English-speaking countries» in higher educational institutions. The relevance of the problem lies in a cultural approach to learning a foreign language, which improves this process and increases the level of its quality in connection with the processes of globalization and the need to form favourable conditions for personal development of a person, his socialization in an environment that is characterized by the presence of representatives of different nations and cultures, and integration into the content of education of regional knowledge as a communicative component. The purpose of the article is to describe the methods of forming students’ ability to be effective participants in intercultural communication, which requires providing them with the necessary minimum of socio-cultural information necessary for adequate communication and mutual understanding at the intercultural level, as well as for the development of personal qualities that allow direct and indirect communication with representatives of other cultures. The ability to interact in situations of cross-cultural communication implies knowledge of the speech etiquette of the people who are native speakers of the corresponding language and knowledge of the communication culture adopted in the modern civilized world. Students receive such knowledge in English classes, which ensures the implementation of one of the leading educational tasks of education – socialization of young people, their social education. In the process of implementing a cultural approach in English classes, a comprehensive mastery of various competencies takes place, including the main competence – communicative. The subject of the research is the description of teaching «Country Studies of English-speaking countries» in English classes. The article deals with the problem of teaching «Country Studies of English-speaking countries» in a new reality.
