Summary/Abstract: The article reconstructs the origins, structure, and activities of the Ostrzeszów Branch of the Society for Research on the History of the Greater Poland Uprising of 1918-1919, set against nationwide documentation efforts in 1926-1933. Drawing on holdings of the Central Military Archives/WBH and the correspondence of the 7th Corps District Historical Section (DOK VII), it examines the branch’s establishment (11 May 1926), leadership headed by Col. Stanisław Thiel, the work plan (topic committees covering three phases of 1918-1919), methods for collecting testimonies and surveys, and funding mechanisms (county subsidies and support from the Provincial Communal Union). The study identifies organizational bottlenecks (delays in submissions, budget constraints, interpretative disputes following Z. Wieliczka’s publications) and tangible outputs: registers of local association members who were insurgents, award recommendations (Cross of Independence), and contributions to the construction of collective memory. It situates the branch within the broader professionalization of research on the Uprising and indicates areas for further comparative inquiry with other local branches.
