Summary/Abstract: The Romanian National Opera of Timișoara represents one of the most important lyrical centers in Romania, with a history of over seven decades and a major contribution to the configuration of the national lyrical landscape. If its traditional repertoire aimed to capitalize on the great titles of European opera, the evolution of the institution has shown a constant openness to innovation, both in terms of the selection of works presented and in the staging methods. The multicultural character of the city was also reflected in the opera repertoire, which developed, alongside opera performances, operetta and ballet performances that were very popular with the public. In recent decades, Opera Timișoara has adopted modern elements of direction, scenography and artistic concept. Thus, our Opera has become a model of continuous modernity worthy of following for other performing arts institutions in Romania.
