Summary/Abstract: This study investigates the short- and long-term impacts of childhood abuse and how such experiences may manifest in adulthood as psychosomatic symptoms or psychological disturbances. Regardless of the abuse’s duration or severity, early trauma often leaves deep and lasting imprints on the body and mind. Even when individuals cannot name or recall these experiences consciously, the body retains their memory. Developed by Dr. Gabor Maté, the Compassionate Inquiry (CI) approach offers a therapeutic framework to help individuals gently access, recognize, and integrate unresolved emotional pain. Through real-life case studies, this research examines how the CI method facilitates the recognition and processing of childhood trauma. The findings suggest that CI supports individuals in increasing self- awareness, initiating the acceptance of past pain, and fostering psychological healing. Ultimately, this method provides a compassionate path toward emotional transformation and long-term well-being for those affected by early trauma.
