Summary/Abstract: The monograph ‘The (Im)Possible Integration of Refugees from the Middle East in Bulgaria (2013–2019)’ presents and discusses the results of an interdisciplinary study on different aspects of the reception and integration of persons who have sought and granted international protection in Bulgaria. Particular attention is paid to: the contradictions between legislation and policy, and the assessments of a number of national and international organisations; refugees in the public discourse; public attitudes and reactions in a national and local context; and the intentions of refugees themselves to settle and integrate into Bulgarian society. Despite their stigmatization, the author elaborates on the scholarly conceptions made so far and proposes a model for the integration of refugees from the Middle East according to the specific Bulgarian conditions.
