Summary/Abstract: The article examines the legal norms regulating the cooperation of the major superiorof a religious institute with the council, focusing on the general principles of this relation-ship as well as the process of admitting to a religious profession. The goal is to demonstratethe scope of the superior’s competences, the significance of the counselor’s votum andother forms of their participation in making decisions concerning the candidate’s tieswith the institute.The subject of this study is the norms of the Code of Canon Law and the regulationsof proper law. Properly regulated decision-making procedures are an important element in protecting the integrity of the institute and achieving its goal while considering theprinciple of justice and the protection of the candidate’s rights. The article shows thatthe code norms governing the council’s participation in the decision-making processand their compliance with the principle of the superior’s personal responsibility areconsistent.
