Summary/Abstract: Feminism is a political movement and doctrine that originated in Western Europe and the United States of America to promote equality between women and men, on the one hand, and to defend the rights of women, on the other hand. The subject of present study is to explore the ideas of feminism, the status of women in society,in particular, the works of women who participated in the French Revolution in the Age of Enlightenment and Georgian feminists who made a a bold statement demanding the empowerment of women. The impetus for our research was the study of materials on gender issues that existed in medieval Western Europe, which gave us an idea of the environment and the values inherited by modern European society. A historical excursion, which began in the Middle Ages, will help us understand the path and progress, that women went through as members of society. Placing this French experience in dialogue with the Georgian context will allow us to examine both parallels and divergences in the trajectory of women’s emancipation, as Georgian women of the 19th and early 20th centuries, inspired by European feminist thought, articulated their own visions of education, civic engagement, and social reform. The aim of this research is to analyze the evolution of feminist thought in France and Georgia, focusing on how women challenged patriarchal structures and articulated new roles for themselves in both societies. By exploring these two trajectories in comparative perspective, the study highlights the universal features of feminist discourse as well as the distinct cultural pathways through which it unfolded. This approach not only enriches our understanding of feminist history but also contributes to a broader reflection on the relationship between gender, culture, and modernity.
