Summary/Abstract: This research examines how the Si Bontar Mudar folktale from North Sumatra's Batak Toba community was transformed into a digital format for teaching Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing (BIPA) at the beginner level. The study addresses the growing need for culturally relevant materials in language instruction that can effectively engage international learners. The folktale was adapted into a digital comic using the ADDIE developmental model. This format makes the traditional story more accessible to international beginners studying Indonesian. The digital version preserves core wisdom from Batak Toba culture while emphasizing universal values. Themes of responsibility, respect, and humility create connections across cultural boundaries. Though not originally written in Indonesian, the story has been carefully adapted for language learners. Simple dialogues within cultural contexts help students simultaneously develop language skills and cultural awareness. The folktale's repetitive language and straightforward structure reinforce key vocabulary and sentence patterns for beginners. Preliminary findings from implementation indicate positive learner responses to the material. Therefore, the study demonstrates that digitalized folklore effectively enhances cultural literacy and language proficiency in BIPA education. This adaptation also contributes to preserving Batak Toba cultural heritage while introducing it to a broader international audience.
