Summary/Abstract: Czech society is characterised by a negative attitude to the communist period, as opinion polls clearly show. However, some features of the past era find a positive social resonance (e.g. social security). At the same time, it is puzzling that the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia, which alludes to the bygone period not only in name but also in part with its programme, enjoyed relatively strong electoral support in the country (until 2021). The topic of communism is not currently a major point of political debate in the Czech Republic. There are few groupings that refer to it, as they are unable to attract new voters in this way. This is demonstrated by the situation of the Czech Communists, who have been an extra-parliamentary grouping since 2021, not least because of the ageing electorate to which they appealed.
