Summary/Abstract: The Herceg-Bosnian Canton represents a leading example of successful concession management and sustainable development in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This paper analyzes the institutional and legal framework of concessions, the development of wind energy projects, their economic, ecological and social impact, as well as key challenges and recommendations for the future. Special emphasis was placed on wind energy projects, among which the Mesihovina Wind Power Plant stands out, as a symbol of modernization and energy transition. The results of the analysis show that Herceg-Bosnia Canton generates significant revenues from concessions, which enables continuous investment in infrastructure, strengthening the local economy and increasing employment. The application of high environmental standards makes this canton a leader in the green transition, while participatory processes and transparency strengthen citizens' trust and social stability. Despite the high efficiency of the system, development challenges have also been identified, especially in the area of digital transparency and institutional participation. In conclusion, the concession model of the Herceg-Bosnian Canton shows how responsible management of natural resources can be a driver of long-term economic growth, energy security and social resilience. This model can serve as a roadmap for other regions in the country and beyond, confirming the importance of strategic planning and inclusive development for achieving sustainable results.
