Qualities of the contemporary pianist in interpreting the chamber works of Nikolay Stoykov

Summary/Abstract: The report examines the problem of the specific requirements of the pianist in interpreting the chamber works of Nikolay Stoykov. The basic qualities that the pianistperformer of avant-garde music of the 20th and 21st centuries must possess are presented. The „roles“ that the contemporary pianist enters to adequately translate the versatility of the composer‘s imaginary world are examined both on the basis of the cited literature and on the position of personal performance experience. The conclusions emphasize the need for awareness of the contemporary composing techniques, non-standard thinking and creative interpretive participation of the pianist to the piano aspects in the chamber works of Nikolay Stoykov.
