Considerations regarding the efficiency of the implementation of educational measures

Summary/Abstract: This article presents the main causes that generate the adoption and reiteration of criminal behaviour by minors, as shown in the latest studies conducted in this field, the conclusion being that the effectiveness of the sanctioning and enforcement system in relation to minors is influenced mostly by factors that are extrinsic to the way sanctions are regulated and applied, as well as to the manner in which they are actually enforced. Achieving the purpose of enforcing educational measures also depends on the prompt intervention of judicial authorities, on their professionalism and that of the authorities/institutions involved in the enforcement of such measures, but, in relation to the factors that determine the emergence and recurrence of criminal behaviour among minors, particular importance should be given to prevention through the joint efforts of state institutions and the community.
