Summary/Abstract: After the end of the German occupation, a difficult process of rebuilding auxiliary historical studies began at the Jagiellonian University. When Władysław Semkowicz was removed from the University by the communist authorities, his student Sylwiusz Mikucki took over as a head of the Department. Another of Semkowicz’s students, Zofia Kozłowska-Budkowa, also played an important role. Together with their own students, they continued the research initiated in the interwar period, while also expanding its thematic scope. A new phase began in the 1980s, when a new generation of scholars employed in the Department significantly broadened both the traditional range and the chronological span of research, responding to new impulses emerging within the field of auxiliary historical sciences.
