Summary/Abstract: This study examines the impact of financial stress on consumer purchasing behavior in Turkey, where persistent economic instability, high inflation, and declining purchasing power have intensified financial pressure on households. Using a quantitative research design, data will be collected through an online survey distributed to consumers across diverse demographic groups. Analysis will focus on how financial stress influences spending patterns, prioritization of essential goods, price sensitivity, and attitudes toward sustainable products, product design, and domestic goods. The literature suggests that higher levels of financial stress reduce discretionary spending and increase consumers’ tendency to adopt budget-conscious purchasing strategies. Financially stressed individuals tend to become more price-sensitive, prioritize essential and domestic products, and place less emphasis on hedonic or aesthetic product attributes. This article synthesizes theoretical frameworks, empirical findings, and economic context to provide foundational insight into Turkish consumers’ behavioral adjustment under financial strain.
